W2 Sheep Company is situated near the ranching community of Condon, Oregon, on a ranch originally put together by Bruce’s step-great-grandmother in the late 1800s. She ran several bands (1000 head each) of sheep and Boston wool buyers would visit the ranch to purchase the wool.
Today the sheep endeavor is on a much smaller scale but features the cadillacs of the fiber wool breeds, Wensleydales, Teeswaters, and Gotlands. Each breed is being introduced to North America through a breeding upgrade program. Semen is imported from Europe, as the US will not allow live sheep to be imported into the US due to disease issues. It takes 5 generations of sheep to reach purebred status. We recently added a few Border Leicester.
